GenSELECT Profile benchmarks your commercial breeding herd by sampling 30 females to create an averaged set of Genomic Breeding Values (GBVs) across six (6) maternal traits, five (5) carcass traits and the Hereford Prime Index – the result is a powerful snapshot of your herd’s genetic merit to drive strategic bull buying decisions. Use the data GenSELECT Profile delivers to select bulls that will move the needle to where it matters most for your farming system by matching the right genetics to your herd.

GenSELECT Heifer takes the guesswork out of selecting commercial replacement heifers with genomic predictions across six (6) maternal traits, five (5) carcass traits and the Hereford Prime Index  – accelerate genetic gain to meet your breeding objectives and improve herd profitability by retaining superior heifers that are most likely to perform in your herd and identify surplus heifers early ensure they reach the most appropriate end market.

GenSELECT Steer highlights commercial steers that have the genetic potential to perform in the paddock and deliver superior carcass results with genomic predictions for growth and carcass traits – reach your finishing objectives faster and improve your bottom line by selecting the most efficient steers for your farm system and identify any surplus steers early to ensure they reach the most appropriate end market.

Suitable for castrated male beef cattle. Not to be used for bulls.

GenSELECT gives you genomic prediction scores.

A score of 50 is considered "average" with a score closer to 100 being more desirable for most traits. Index results are reported as a dollar ($) value. The results are presented in a bar graph for a visual snapshot of how your animals compare to the reference population.

GenSELECT Heifer and GenSELECT Steer results can be sorted by trait for a quick overview of the mob, or exported for you to rank the animals based on your selection criteria.



GenSELECT products are available exclusively via PBB with the support of NZ Herefords

How to order:

  1. Purchase tissue sample units from PBB, then collect samples from your animals.
  2. Login to the GenSELECT portal https://genselect.breedplan.com.au/login/ to generate a unique batch number for your order and download the order form. (new users will need to create a login)
  3. Complete the order form then email your form to dna@pbbnz.com and print a copy to include with your samples when you send them to PBB.
