DNA SERVICE ENHANCED WITH DATABASE INTEGRATION BETWEEN
PBBNZ AND MASSEY UNIVERSITY GENETIC SERVICES CENTRE

FEILDING, NEW ZEALAND February 3, 2010

PBBNZ improves DNA services by developing direct database connectivity and data sharing technology to Massey University’s Equine Parentage and Animal Genetic Services Centre. PBBNZ manages DNA parentage and test data for the New Zealand performance beef industry.

In conjunction with Massey University, the new database integration allows improvement in workflow and data sharing of DNA test samples received, and management of test results. The field of DNA parentage plays a growing part in the breeding industry as farmers realise the important part it plays in the area performance of cattle breeding data.

“As the performance beef industry looks to technology to improve processes and profitability, it is important service providers have the agility to respond. Data storage and communication is an important component, and we strive to improve this aspect for our customers” says PBBNZ General Manager Murray Meads.
